Hacked TikTok account? How to recover it
Platform focus: TikTok
At a glance
If your TikTok was hacked, secure your own email and phone, then try Forgot password with any method still on file. If none reach you, use Recover your account and ask two TikTok friends to verify you, then Need more help and a Report a problem request.
TikTok lists a changed password or phone number, a changed username, deleted or unauthorised videos and messages you did not write as signs of a hack. A changed email means the same thing.
Work through TikTok's routes in the order below.
What to do first if your TikTok account is hacked
- Secure the email account and phone number you still own. Check for TikTok code emails you did not request and sign-ins you do not recognise.
- Try "Forgot password?" with any login method TikTok still has for you.
- If none reach you, tap the Help button on the login screen, choose "Recover your account" and ask at least two TikTok friends to verify you.
- If that fails, tap "Need more help?" and fill in the identity form. TikTok says this may take up to 30 days.
- File a Report a problem request under "Account access / security" on TikTok's feedback form.
- Once you are back, change the password, turn on two-step verification, review linked apps and check your business or Shop settings.
More detail is in TikTok hacked and email changed. If the attacker deleted the account, see TikTok account deleted by a hacker.
Creators and business accounts
- Check for ad charges, and contact your card issuer if you see any.
- Record lost income and brand-deal impact. It may matter for police reports.
- Check admin roles and connected accounts once you are back in.
What not to do after a hack
- Do not pay anyone who promises to "hack back" your TikTok account. Unauthorised access is a crime, and most of these offers are scams. See hiring an "ethical hacker" to recover an account.
- Do not share a login code, password or backup code with anyone, including people claiming to be platform staff.
- Do not click links in direct messages or emails warning that your TikTok account will be deleted. Open the app yourself instead.
- Do not trust phone numbers that claim to be platform support. Meta, for one, says it has no general public support phone line.
When professional help with a hacked TikTok makes sense
Most hacked TikTok accounts are won back through the platform's own recovery flow, so try that first and never pay anyone to "hack it back". Getting help is worth considering when you have already tried those routes, lost access to both the email and the phone number, or the account carries a business, ads or income.
AwareXone reviews your case, helps you prepare ownership evidence and works only through TikTok's official routes. We never ask for your password, login codes or session cookies, and we do not break into accounts. Only TikTok can restore access, so no outcome is guaranteed. AwareXone has handled 1,300+ account recovery and removal cases, with client names kept anonymous. Fees are confirmed after the case review.
Use Apply for Case Review and tell us the platform, what changed and what you have already tried. We reply within five hours, 9am to 11pm Malaysia time, every day.
If money was lost or you are being blackmailed
Call your bank first and report to the police or cybercrime authority in your country. In Malaysia, call the National Scam Response Centre on 997 and see how to report a hacked account in Malaysia. Reporting does not replace the platform's own recovery process, but it supports your case and gives you a reference number.
