AwareXone

Social media account recovery service in Australia

At a glance

In Australia, recover a hacked account through the platform's official route, then report through ReportCyber, Scamwatch if a scam was involved, and your bank if money was lost. AwareXone offers a remote case review if you cannot get back in. Only the platform can restore the account.

Australian small businesses with Facebook Pages or ad accounts, and creators hit by phishing, are common cases. Public reporting channels exist, but none of them restores an account; that still depends on Meta, TikTok or the other platform.

What to do first in Australia

  1. Secure the account through the platform's recovery process and change the password.
  2. Check linked accounts, including any where you use "sign in with Facebook".
  3. Note suspicious activity, such as scam messages sent from your profile.
  4. Report it: ReportCyber, Scamwatch if a scam was involved, and the platform.

Platform steps: hacked Facebook account, hacked Instagram account, hacked WhatsApp account and hacked TikTok account.

Who does what in Australia

  • ReportCyber (via cyber.gov.au): report cybercrime to the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the relevant police.
  • Scamwatch (National Anti-Scam Centre): report scams, including when your account was used to scam others.
  • IDCARE: support when your identity or personal information is at risk. Individual helpline 1800 595 160, Mon-Fri 7am-7pm AEST.
  • eSafety Commissioner: serious online abuse, including some impersonation used to harass, when the platform has not acted.
  • Your bank: unauthorised transactions. Contact them immediately. The ACSC also lists the hotline 1300 CYBER1 (1300 292 371).

Do not hack back

Under section 478.1 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code, causing unauthorised access to restricted data is an offence, with a maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment (CDPP). Paying a "recovery hacker" risks the law and, more likely, being scammed.

Business Pages and ad accounts

If a Facebook Page, Business Manager or ad account is involved, call your card issuer if ads are charging your card and keep records of lost income. See Business Manager recovery, Facebook Page recovery and the Australian guides on Facebook account recovery, Instagram account recovery and TikTok account recovery.

How AwareXone helps clients in Australia

We work remotely, so you do not need to be in Malaysia. You send a case review request with the platform, what changed and what you have already tried. We tell you whether your case looks recoverable, which official route fits, and what evidence the platform will ask for. Then we work only through the platform's official channels. Only the platform can restore access, so no outcome is guaranteed.

We never ask for your password, login codes, backup codes or session cookies, and we do not break into accounts. AwareXone has handled 1,300+ account recovery and removal cases, with client names kept anonymous.

We reply within five hours, 9am to 11pm Malaysia time, every day. That is 11am to 1am in Sydney and Melbourne on AEST, and 12pm to 2am on AEDT. Fees outside Malaysia are quoted in USD after review.
