If your Facebook or TikTok is hacked in the UAE, secure your email first. Then use the platform's official recovery: facebook.com/hacked for Facebook, or TikTok's in-app "Forgot password" and compromised-account report. Once you're back in, turn on two-step verification and remove unknown devices. If money was lost or you're being blackmailed, report it to the police in your emirate. Meta and TikTok don't offer public recovery phone lines, so treat calls and DMs from "support" as suspicious.
#How do I recover a hacked Facebook account?
- Secure your email (change the password and turn on 2FA).
- Go to facebook.com/hacked and choose the option that fits (Facebook Help: recover a hacked account).
- Look for Facebook's security email (from facebookmail.com) about a changed email or password, and use the "secure your account" link if it's there.
- Complete identity verification if asked.
- Once back in: change your password, turn on 2FA, remove unknown devices and check Accounts Centre.
If business assets were taken, use Meta Business Help's business portfolio recovery (Meta Business Help), and tell your bank about any unauthorised ad charges. See our Meta ad account and Business Portfolio guide.
#How do I recover a hacked TikTok account?
- Secure your email.
- Use "Forgot password" in TikTok with your phone or email.
- Report the compromise in the app. TikTok's account-safety page explains the process (TikTok Support).
- Once back in: change your password, turn on two-step verification, remove unknown devices and check the linked email and phone.
- If the account was banned during the hack: log in to appeal and download your data. TikTok allows banned users to do both (TikTok Support).
#Which route fits my situation?
| Situation | TikTok | |
|---|---|---|
| Password changed, email still yours | Reset via email, then secure | "Forgot password" via email |
| Email and phone changed | facebook.com/hacked + identity check | In-app compromised-account report |
| Disabled or banned after the hack | Review request from the notice (Meta describes 180 days, may vary) (Facebook Help) | Log in to appeal |
| Business assets affected | Business portfolio recovery | TikTok Shop Seller Center / TikTok for Business support |
#Where do I report in the UAE?
- Dubai Police through the eCrime platform or Dubai Police app (UAE government portal).
- Abu Dhabi Police through its official app or the Aman service (UAE government portal). The Ministry of Interior's eCrimes platform in the MoI UAE app is another official channel.
- Your bank if money was taken.
The UAE government portal outlines cyber-safety resources (UAE government portal). Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on combating rumours and cybercrimes covers unauthorised access to accounts and systems; Article 2 makes hacking an information system an offence, punishable by imprisonment and/or a fine of AED 100,000 to 300,000 (Decree-Law text, ADGM copy).
#What evidence should I keep for a UAE police report?
- your profile URL or username, and the email and phone originally linked;
- security emails or SMS showing changes, with dates and times;
- screenshots of posts, messages or ads the hacker created, and any ransom or blackmail messages, with the sender visible;
- bank or card statements showing unauthorised charges, including ad spend;
- a list of friends or customers who received scam messages.
Keep originals unedited, and store copies off the affected device.
"UAE Facebook and TikTok takeovers we review remotely often involve business Pages or phishing messages dressed as copyright claims. Keep unedited evidence, report crime locally when money moves, and use each platform's official recovery or appeal path." - Md Shariar Shanaz Shuvon, Founder, AwareXone
#How do I warn followers and customers safely?
Post on another platform you still control, or message contacts directly. Say the account was compromised, that you aren't asking for money, and that nobody should click links or send codes. Businesses should also update their website and WhatsApp Business status. Once you're back in, pin a short post confirming the account is secure again.
#Which scams should UAE users avoid?
Dubai Police have warned residents about account-takeover and impersonation scams, according to Khaleej Times (Khaleej Times). Watch for:
- fake "Meta Support" or "TikTok Support" pages and DMs;
- phone numbers found through ads (Meta lists its limited phone-support options on its own page) (Meta Help);
- "hackers" offering recovery;
- requests for your OTP;
- promises and payment in crypto or gift cards.
#When is professional help useful?
For businesses with Pages, ad accounts or TikTok Shop, and creators with income at stake, structured help through official routes can be worthwhile. SocialSafe by AwareXone works only through official channels, never asks for passwords or one-time codes, and doesn't promise outcomes. We reply within 5 hours between 9am and 11pm MYT (about 5am-7pm UAE time). UAE clients are quoted and billed in USD, with the fee confirmed after case review. We work in English. If you're more comfortable in Arabic, you can write to us in Arabic and we'll reply in English with an Arabic translation of the key points. The English version is the one that counts. See the SocialSafe by AwareXone Facebook account recovery page, the TikTok account recovery page, pricing and the Trust Center.
#How do I lock down both accounts after recovery?
| Check | TikTok | |
|---|---|---|
| Unique password | Settings → Accounts Centre → Password and security | Settings → Security |
| Two-step verification | Turn on with an authenticator app | Turn on in Security |
| Unknown devices | Remove from "Where you're logged in" | Remove from "Manage devices" |
| Linked email and phone | Confirm both are yours | Confirm both are yours |
| Admins and partners | Remove unknown Page and portfolio admins | Check TikTok Shop and business-centre members |
| Payment methods | Remove unknown cards in Ads Manager | Check payout details |
Then change the password on your email account again if you reused it anywhere, and keep watching for further security alerts for a few weeks. Attackers often try the same phishing route again.
