Instagram Gifts and Subscriptions Not Available: Why

Instagram Gifts or Subscriptions missing? Compare the eligibility rules, check Monetization status and see what to do when a policy violation blocks them.

7 min read
Short answer

Instagram's help pages list separate rules for Gifts and Subscriptions, including a professional account, age 18, an eligible country and different follower counts. If a tool is missing, check Monetization status in the app for policy violations, and request a review if you think Instagram made a mistake.

Summary
  • The Subscriptions help page we read on 25 October 2026 lists a professional account with at least 10,000 followers, age 18 and an eligible country.
  • The Gifts help page we read on 25 October 2026 lists a professional account, age 18, at least 500 followers and a payout account.
  • Both pages list Malaysia among the countries as we read them, so country is not the only thing that can block a creator.
  • Instagram's Monetization status page says you can see account and content policy violations there, and request a review if you think it made a mistake.
  • A wrong step, such as buying followers or engagement, can cost you the feature, so know what you are doing before you start.

You open the Professional dashboard on Instagram and there is no Gifts tool, no Subscriptions option or a message that says the feature may not be available to you yet. You have a professional account, you post regularly and you live in Malaysia. So why is it missing?

This guide follows Instagram's own help pages. It sets the two sets of rules side by side, shows where to look for a policy violation and explains the review request. We do not sell any way to switch monetisation on, and no outside service can. A wrong step, such as buying followers or engagement, can cost you the feature, so know what you are doing before you start.

#What Do Gifts and Subscriptions Each Require?

Instagram's Eligibility requirements for Instagram Subscriptions page and its How to earn money on Instagram Gifts page list different rules. The table below shows what each page said when we read it on 25 October 2026. Neither page carries a date, and Instagram can change thresholds, so check the live pages before you act.

The Gifts page also says Facebook Stars on Reels is a separate product, and that you cannot use a Facebook Stars balance to send gifts on Instagram. Do not mix the two.

#Is Malaysia on the List?

As we read the Subscriptions page and the Gifts page on 25 October 2026, both list Malaysia among the countries where the feature is available. So for a creator who lives in Malaysia, the country is not the usual reason a tool is missing. The policies page says you must reside in an eligible country, and that you may lose the ability to monetise if you move to an ineligible location or if Instagram changes product eligibility. Lists change, so check the live page.

#Where Do I See If I Am Eligible?

The Subscriptions page says to go to your profile in the Instagram app and tap Professional dashboard. If you are eligible, you will see an option to Set up subscriptions. The page also says that the product or feature may not be available to you yet. The Gifts page says that once you are eligible, you can find Gifts in the Professional dashboard under Your Tools.

If the option is not there, the pages do not explain why in your case. The next place to look is Monetization status.

#How Do I Check for a Policy Violation?

Instagram's monetization status page says this feature is only available in the Instagram mobile app, and that you need a professional account. It says to tap Menu to go to Settings, tap Creator tools and controls or Business tools and controls, then tap Monetization status. You can see whether you have policy violations and whether they affect your ability to use monetisation tools.

The page says you will need to resolve any policy violations to continue earning with your eligible tools. It says you can view the violations by tapping each policy under Current policy violations. If you think Instagram made a mistake, you can tap Request a review to appeal all the listed violations at once, or tap an individual violation to learn more and request a review one at a time.

Before you request a review, read what each violation says. The page does not say how long a review takes or what the result will be.

#What Do the Partner Monetisation Policies Say?

Instagram's Partner Monetisation Policies page says creators who want to use monetisation or promotional tools must follow a set of rules about accounts, behaviours and payments. It lists these areas:

  • Reside in an eligible country.
  • Follow the Community Standards, including the rules on intellectual property, authenticity and user safety.
  • Follow the Content Monetisation Policies, which apply an additional level of standards to monetised content, including profile pictures and descriptions.
  • Share accurate information. Content flagged as misinformation may make you ineligible.
  • Monetise authentic engagement. The page says you may lose the ability to monetise if your audience significantly consists of fake engagement.
  • Develop an established presence, including maintaining a sufficient follower base.
  • Politicians and government entities are ineligible.
  • Avoid systemic violations. The page says you may lose the ability to monetise if an entity connected to you has repeatedly violated the policies.

The page also says Instagram reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate access to its content monetisation features at any time. Our guide to a disabled Instagram creator account covers the case where the account itself has been disabled, and our guide to Facebook monetisation restrictions covers the sister tool on Facebook.

#Do Not Buy Followers or Engagement

If you are short of the follower count, the quick route feels tempting. The policies page says that manufactured sharing and any behaviour that artificially boosts followers, views or engagement for revenue are not allowed. Buying followers can therefore push you further from the tool, not closer. Grow the audience with real content, and look at how other platforms treat their own creator tools, for example in our guide to TikTok Creator Rewards ineligibility.

#What the Pages Do Not Say

The pages we read do not say when a tool will appear for you, and they do not say why a particular creator does not see it. They do not give a date for when thresholds last changed. The Monetization status page does not say how long a review takes. They do not promise that a review will restore the tool. We do not claim to know your outcome.

#When It Is Safer to Get Expert Help

Some creators sort this out alone, and the official steps stay first. The risks are plain. Instagram says fake engagement, repeated violations by a connected entity or a move to an ineligible location can cost you the ability to monetise. It also says you will need to resolve policy violations to continue earning. A review request that is rushed, or a violation you misread, may not give Instagram the facts it needs. People who offer to switch Gifts or Subscriptions on, or to sell followers, are not using a route Instagram describes. Our guide to spotting fake recovery services lists the signs.

If you are unsure about any step, or the account matters for your income or business, handing the case to an experienced team such as AwareXone is the safer choice. We can help you read the violations, collect your facts and word a clear review request. We do not sell monetisation access. See our creator account help page, and use the Apply for Case Review button at the end of this guide.

#When a Case Review Makes Sense

If Monetization status shows several violations, or a tool disappeared after it was working, or the account earns for a business, a review can help you decide what to do first. SocialSafe by AwareXone is a Malaysia-based service, independent of Instagram, that helps you use the official routes. We never ask for your password or login codes, and we cannot change Instagram's decisions. See how we work on our trust page.
