TikTok Creator Rewards Not Eligible? Malaysia Guide
TikTok Creator Rewards not available in Malaysia, or your account marked ineligible? Who qualifies, what each reason means, how to appeal and what to avoid.
If you are based in Malaysia, the reason is geography: TikTok's Creator Rewards Program currently runs only in eight countries, and Malaysia is not one of them. In an eligible country, check the reason in your notice and use Submit an appeal before the window closes. Do not use a VPN or buy a foreign account.
Summary- At the time of writing, TikTok's Creator Rewards Program is open only in eight countries, and Malaysia is not one of them.
- A creator based in Malaysia with a Malaysian account cannot join yet, however many followers or views the account has.
- In an eligible country, ineligibility usually comes down to age, a Business Account, the follower and view thresholds, or a reason TikTok names in its notice.
- If you believe a decision is wrong, use the Submit an appeal option on the notification in your TikTok inbox before the appeal window closes.
- Do not use a VPN, buy a foreign account or pay anyone who claims they can get you into the programme, and never share a password or login code.
- TikTok alone decides who joins and who is reinstated, and a permanent ban means losing any rewards not yet paid out.

You passed 10,000 followers, your videos are over a minute long, and friends overseas talk about their TikTok Creator Rewards payouts. But when you open TikTok Studio in Malaysia, the programme is missing or greyed out. Or you joined from abroad, and a notice now says your account or a video is no longer eligible.
The short answer for most Malaysian creators is geography, not quality. TikTok runs Creator Rewards only in a handful of countries, and you must be based in one of them with an account registered there. For creators who do live in an eligible country, the cause is usually one of a known list of reasons, and most decisions can be appealed from the notice.
This guide covers who can join, what each ineligibility reason means, how and when to appeal, and the shortcuts that end with a lost account.

#Can You Join the TikTok Creator Rewards Program in Malaysia?
Not at the time of writing. TikTok's Creator Academy page on the programme says it is open to creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil, and that you must be based in one of these countries and have an account registered there. Malaysia is not on the list, so a Malaysian creator with a Malaysian account cannot apply, whatever the follower count. The list can change, so check that page rather than a screenshot someone shares. In an eligible country, an ineligible notice usually names a reason you can fix or appeal.
#Which Ineligible Situation Are You In?
"Not eligible" covers several different situations. TikTok's notices usually name a reason, but the exact wording varies by app version, language and region, so match the meaning rather than the words.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No Creator Rewards option in TikTok Studio, based in Malaysia | The programme is not offered in Malaysia | Nothing to fix; check the Creator Academy country list from time to time |
| Option present but you cannot apply, in an eligible country | An entry requirement is not met: age, account type, followers or 30-day views | Check each requirement in the checklist below |
| A notice that a video does not meet the eligibility criteria | That video will not collect rewards, often for originality, length or quality | Appeal from the notice within 80 days if you believe it is wrong |
| A notice that your account is disqualified from the programme | An account-level reason, such as a security issue or too many violations | Appeal from the notice within 30 days, and secure the account first |
| Reason given as "Security issue" | Unusual or suspicious activity, such as artificial engagement | Check for logins or activity that are not yours before appealing |
| Account permanently banned from TikTok | Access to the programme ends and unpaid rewards are forfeited | Appeal the ban itself; a restored account is reinstated automatically |
#The Entry Requirements, Checked One by One
In an eligible country, work through this list before assuming TikTok made a mistake. Each item comes from the Creator Academy page or TikTok's programme terms.
- Country: you are based in, and your account is registered in, one of the eight listed countries. The EEA programme terms add that you must reside there and not use a VPN or similar tool.
- Age: at least 18. The Japan and South Korea terms use the local age of majority, which they give as 19 in South Korea and 18 in Japan.
- Account type: only Personal Accounts qualify. Business Accounts and accounts linked to governments, politicians or political parties do not.
- Followers: at least 10,000. The programme terms say authentic followers, so bought followers do not count and can harm the account.
- Views: at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. This is a rolling window, so a quiet month can drop you below it.
- Good standing: your account follows the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, with no tampering or fraud.
- Payment: the US programme terms require a linked payment account registered in your own name, plus completed onboarding documents such as tax forms.
TikTok's monetisation rules in the Community Guidelines repeat the age floor for every monetisation feature: you must be 18 or older. They also say content that is not eligible for the For You feed may be restricted from monetisation, which links this problem to general reach problems.
#Why Joined Accounts Still Earn Nothing on Some Videos
Joining is only the first gate. Each video is checked separately. The Creator Academy page and the programme terms say a video collects rewards only if all of these are true:
- It is original, high quality and over one minute long.
- It reaches at least 1,000 qualified views on the For You feed. The terms define a qualified view as one watched for five seconds or more, not marked "not interested", and counted once per viewer.
- It is not a Duet, a Stitch or a Photo Mode post.
- It is not an advert, paid promotion or sponsored content.
- It follows the programme terms, Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Creator Code of Conduct and Copyright Policy.
The Creator Academy page also says qualified views must come from countries where the programme is available. If most of your audience is in Malaysia or elsewhere in the region, many views may not count even when the account itself is eligible.
#What Each Ineligibility Reason Means
TikTok's Creator Academy lists the reasons an account or video can be ruled out. In plain terms:
- Unoriginal: the account information or videos are copied from others, or have minimal original input or edits. Reuploaded clips and compilations are the usual cause.
- Low quality: split screens, reactions that add nothing, low quality images or slideshow videos.
- Advertising: your profile contains personal or business contact information. A phone number, email or shop address in the bio can trigger this on its own.
- Clickbait: the profile or videos exist mainly to attract follows, likes or ad clicks without real value.
- Inappropriate or disturbing: sexually suggestive content, excessive body exposure, or scenes likely to shock viewers.
- Security issue: unusual or suspicious activity, such as artificial engagement, manipulating the rewards system, harassing other users or involvement in illegal activity.
- Content violation threshold: five video violations in the past 30 days.
- Account violation threshold: five total account violations, which TikTok says makes you permanently ineligible.
- Account type or age: a Business Account, a government or political account, or an account holder below the age requirement.
- Creator Code of Conduct: a restriction for breaking TikTok's rules for creators in its programmes.
The Creator Code of Conduct says severe violations can restrict access to creator programmes for three months, egregious behaviour can make that permanent, and you can appeal a restriction you believe is an error.
#How to Appeal a Creator Rewards Decision
Appeals happen inside the TikTok app. There is no email route and no paid route. The Creator Academy gives two deadlines: 80 days to appeal a video eligibility notice, and 30 days to appeal an account disqualification. The US and Japan and South Korea programme terms also give 30 days to appeal an eligibility decision through the link in the notification.
- Update the app, then screenshot the notice with the date showing. Note which reason it names.
- Fix what you can first. Remove contact details from your bio, delete obviously reused clips, and switch to a Personal Account if you are on a Business Account.
- In the TikTok app, tap "Inbox", then tap the notification about the programme.
- Tap "Submit an appeal" and follow the instructions. Keep any written explanation short and factual.
- For a removed video, open the video, tap "Community Guidelines violation: See details", then "Submit an appeal".
- Appeal once per decision and wait. Repeated appeals with the same content do not add evidence.
- For payment or reporting problems rather than eligibility, use TikTok's Report a problem form, which has a "Creator Rewards Program" topic. The US terms say such disputes must be raised within 30 days.
#Mistakes That Turn Ineligible Into Banned
Malaysian creators are targeted with shortcuts that promise a way around the country rule. Each one breaks TikTok's terms, and several put the whole account at risk.
- Using a VPN to appear to be in an eligible country. The EEA programme terms make not using a VPN or similar tool a condition of joining, and the Terms of Service forbid bypassing measures TikTok uses to restrict access.
- Buying an account registered in the US, UK or another eligible country. The Terms of Service forbid selling or transferring the services, using another person's account without TikTok's authorisation, and creating a false identity. Payouts also need a payment account in the creator's own name.
- Letting a relative overseas "hold" the account and payment details for you. That misrepresents who the creator is.
- Buying followers or views to reach 10,000 and 100,000. The terms count only authentic followers and views, and artificial engagement is listed as a security issue.
- Reposting other creators' long videos to hit the one minute mark. That is the unoriginal reason, and repeated violations lead to permanent ineligibility.
If you typed your TikTok login into a fake page, change your password straight away and report the page to CyberSecurity Malaysia's Cyber999 incident response centre, which accepts reports by online form, email, phone and its mobile app.
#What If the Security Issue Was Not You?
A "Security issue" reason sometimes means someone else is using the account: a stranger who stole the login, or a former manager or editor who still has it.
Secure the account before you appeal. Change the password, sign out devices you do not recognise, confirm the email and phone on the account are still yours, and turn on two-step verification. Our guide to recovering a TikTok account in Malaysia covers the login routes. Then appeal and explain briefly what happened and roughly when.
Low reach and monetisation are closely linked, because TikTok says content that is not eligible for the For You feed may also be restricted from monetisation. Our explainer on videos under review or ineligible for the For You feed shows how to check that. If the problem is a full ban rather than the programme, start with what to do when TikTok bans an account in Malaysia.
#What Malaysian Creators Can Do Meanwhile
Creator Rewards is one of several TikTok monetisation features. The Community Guidelines also name LIVE gifting, TikTok Shop, Series, Subscriptions and others, each with its own entry criteria and all requiring you to be 18 or older. Which of these your account is offered depends on your country and account, so check what TikTok Studio shows you rather than trusting a list online.
- Keep posting original, well made videos over one minute. They count towards the thresholds if Malaysia is added later.
- Keep the account clean. The five video and five account violation thresholds follow the account, not the country.
- Check the Creator Academy country list every few months, and treat announcements from anyone other than TikTok with suspicion.
#When a Case Review Makes Sense
Most Creator Rewards problems do not need outside help. If you are in Malaysia, the answer is simply that the programme is not offered yet, and nobody can change that. A second opinion helps when the account supports a business, when a security issue and a hack are tangled together, or when a disqualification or ban appeal has already failed. SocialSafe by AwareXone, our recovery service, looks at the notices and what you have tried, then tells you honestly whether an official route is still open. We use only TikTok's own appeal and support channels, and we never ask for your password or login codes. Our business and creator recovery service explains how a review works, and our Trust Center sets out what we will never ask you for.
