You earned money on Facebook through Stars, Subscriptions or the Content Monetisation Programme, and the payout has not arrived. You may not know whether the problem is your payout account, your tax details, your bank or something on Meta's side.
This guide follows Meta's own help pages. It sets out what a payout needs, what Meta says can delay or reject one, and where to check in your own settings. We do not quote amounts, dates or timings here, because they change and the pages are the place to read them. We also cannot promise that a payout will be released. A wrong step, such as changing payout details at the wrong moment, can delay a payout, so know what you are doing before you start.

#What Does a Facebook Payout Need?
Meta's About payouts on Facebook page says you can receive payouts of earnings from the Content Monetisation Programme, Stars, Subscriptions and Storefront. To receive them, it says you must do the following.
| Requirement | What Meta's page says |
|---|---|
| Policies | Meet the Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies |
| Payout account | Set up a payout account, or update it if you already have one |
| Tax verification | Complete tax verification, and the name on your Facebook or Instagram account must match the full legal name associated with your tax ID |
| Minimum earnings | Meet the minimum earnings threshold for the tool or bonus |
| No suspicious activity | Payouts may be delayed or rejected in cases where suspicious or fraudulent activity is detected |
The page also says that if you earn from a bonus programme, you must have a payout account set up before the bonus period ends. Read the page itself for the exact figures and dates, since we do not repeat them.
#Step One: Check Your Payout Account
Meta's How to set up payouts on Facebook page says only eligible creators can receive payouts, and that if you earn money with Facebook monetisation tools, you need a payout account in order to get paid. It says that when you add Facebook content monetisation, Stars or Subscriptions on a mobile device, you can skip setting up a payout account and start earning straight away.
That is where creators can go wrong. The page says that without a payout account there is a limit on what you can earn per tool. It also says that if you do not complete your payout account within the time limits it sets, you will not be able to earn more until you set it up, and you will forfeit and waive all rights to receive your earnings. The page gives the exact periods and limits, so read them there before you assume you have more time.
The setup steps on that page include your legal name, date of birth and country, your business information, and how you would like to get paid. It lists four ways: sign in to your online bank, manually link a bank account, link a PayPal account, or link a debit card. It then asks you to add your tax information, and says you must submit and verify it to complete the payout account and get paid.
If your setup is unfinished, the page says Meta sends notifications and an email reminder, and that you must reach a minimum earnings threshold before you can complete setup. You can also finish an incomplete payout account when you onboard to another monetisation tool.
#Step Two: Check the Name and Tax Details
The Tax ID requirements for Facebook payout accounts page says which tax ID you need depends on where you live and how you run your business. It names a federal employer identification number for a US business, a VAT number for a European Union business, a social security number or other tax identification for a sole proprietorship, and, for people outside the United States and European Union, an applicable identification number issued by a government agency that uniquely identifies you or your business. It repeats that the name on your Facebook or Instagram account must match the full legal name associated with your tax ID, or your payouts cannot be processed and finalised.
The How to update tax information for Facebook payouts page adds that creators are required to have their tax status verified, otherwise their payouts will be suspended. It says that if your tax status cannot be determined, it may be because of inconsistencies in the information you provided when you set up the payout account. To resolve it, you resubmit your tax documents and update the tax information on your payout account. It says that once your tax status has been verified, the hold on your payout account will be removed. The page says which form applies depends on whether you are in the United States, and it suggests confirming with a tax advisor if you think you can claim treaty benefits. We cannot give tax advice.
A mismatch can be as simple as a stage name on the page and a legal name on the tax form. If your page name and your legal name differ, compare them against what the pages describe before you contact anyone.
#Step Three: Check Whether Updating Details Caused a Delay
The How to update a payout account on Facebook page says you become a financial admin when you set up a payout account, and that only financial admins can update and manage account and financial information. It says you can change your payout account at any time, but that it may take time to finalise changes. It also says that, to protect your account, a hold is placed when you update your payout method.
The About payouts page says the same, and adds that you should make any changes to your financial information well before the payment date. It also says that depending on your bank, payouts can take time to arrive, and international payouts can take longer to post to your bank or PayPal account.
So if you changed a bank account, a method or a name shortly before a payout, that may explain it. Change nothing else in a rush, because every update can start another hold.
#Step Four: Rule Out the Simple Causes
The About payouts page lists what to do if you still have not received your payout after the waiting period the page states:
- Check with your bank to confirm the status of your payout.
- Review your payout account information to confirm it is complete and accurate.
- Verify that you have accumulated the minimum payout amount for your product.
It says that if your balance is below the minimum, it is carried over to the next payout, and that your payouts include earnings from each monetisation tool you use. It also says payouts may be delayed or rejected where suspicious or fraudulent activity is detected, and that there are additional reasons why payouts may be delayed or rejected. If you still have questions, the page tells you to let Meta know through the link it gives.
You can find your earnings and payouts history in your Payout settings on Facebook, or in the Payouts tab in Monetisation Manager. Approximate earnings in your professional dashboard are estimates, and the page says they may not reflect your final payout, because all earnings are subject to review under the monetisation policies and programme terms and adjustments can be made.
#If You Lost Monetisation Rather Than a Payout
A missing payout is not the same as losing the right to earn. If you have lost access to monetisation tools or have been told you are no longer eligible, that is a policy matter, covered in our guide on Facebook monetisation restricted. If your Page or creator account was hacked and the payout details were changed, see our guide on a hacked creator account with brand deals at risk. For a payout from another platform, see our guide on a Medium Partner Program payout that has not arrived.
#What the Pages Do Not Say
The pages we read do not say why a particular payout was held, and they do not list every reason a payout may be delayed or rejected. They say there are additional reasons. They do not describe an appeal for a payout, and they do not promise a release. We do not know why your payout has not arrived, and we will not guess.
#When It Is Safer to Get Expert Help
Some people sort this out alone, and the official steps stay first. The risks are plain. Changing payout details repeatedly can cause repeated holds. Mismatched names and tax details can stop a payout from being finalised. Missing the time limit for a payout account can mean forfeiting earnings. And a person who offers to release a payout in return for payment or for your login is a risk to expect. Never share a login or a code.
If the payout matters to your income or your business, or you think the payout details were changed by someone else, handing the case to an experienced team such as AwareXone is the safer choice. We can help you check your details against the pages, keep a record and avoid mistakes. See our creator recovery help page, and use the Apply for Case Review button at the end of this guide.
#When a Case Review Makes Sense
If you have checked your payout account, tax details and names and the payout is still missing, or you cannot reach the settings at all, a review can help you decide what to try first. SocialSafe by AwareXone is a Malaysia-based service, independent of Meta, that helps you use the official routes. We never ask for your password or login codes, and we cannot release a payout. See how we work on our trust page.
