TikTok will not load, post or go LIVE and you fear a ban? Use TikTok's Account check to tell an outage from a restriction, then take the right next step.
Start with the Account check. TikTok's support pages describe an Account check in the app that shows whether features are restricted. Menu names can vary by app version and region. If nothing shows as restricted, an outage, network or app fault is more likely. If something is restricted, you can appeal in the app. TikTok decides appeals.
Summary
TikTok's support pages describe an Account check in the app that shows whether features are restricted. Menu names can vary by app version and region.
If Account check shows no restriction and videos still will not load, the problem is more likely an outage, your network or the app than your account.
TikTok says a banned account sees a message in the app, and that reduced reach on the For You feed shows in TikTok analytics.
Do not clear app data or log out in a panic. One wrong step can cost you the account, so know what you are doing before you start.
TikTok stops working. The feed will not load, an upload hangs, or the LIVE button does nothing. Your first thought is that the account has been restricted or banned. Sometimes that is true. Sometimes the whole app is having a bad day. TikTok has a built-in tool that can help answer the question for your account, and it is the place to start before you do anything else.
This guide uses TikTok's Your account status page, the Enforcement section of the Community Guidelines and TikTok's Report a technical problem page. It gives you a feature-by-feature map, a short order of checks and the right next step for each result. One wrong step can cost you the account, so know what you are doing before you start.

#How Do You Tell an Outage From a Restriction on TikTok?
Run the Account check. TikTok's support pages, including Your account status, describe an Account check in the app that shows whether features are restricted. Menu names can vary by app version and region. If the check shows nothing restricted while the app misbehaves, that points away from your account.
Outages do happen. GV Wire reported on 28 October 2026 that TikTok was down for thousands of users that day, citing more than two thousand reports on Downdetector and saying that video streaming was the main complaint. Downdetector counts user reports, so it shows that a lot of people had a problem at once. It does not tell you anything about your own account standing.
TikTok's support pages describe an Account check in the app that shows whether features are restricted. Menu names can vary by app version and region. We do not list exact taps here, because they change between versions. Look in your profile menu, among the creator tools and in the safety or support settings. If you cannot find it, search the in-app help for Account check.
If the app will not open far enough to reach Account check, that is itself a sign of an app, device or network fault rather than a restriction. A banned account, the Enforcement page says, sees a message in the app.
This map is built for TikTok's own features. It is our reading of the official pages, not a list from TikTok.

Two rows need a note. The Enforcement page says that if content is made ineligible for the For You feed or otherwise restricted, the information appears in the TikTok analytics tool. The Accounts and Features guidelines say a LIVE session that breaks the rules may be stopped and the creator may face temporary restrictions from going LIVE, and that you must be 18 or older to go LIVE. So a LIVE problem can be a restriction even when Account check is clear.
Run Account check in the app and note anything it shows as restricted.
If a feature shows as restricted, open it and read the reason. Write down the exact wording.
If nothing is restricted, check your connection on another app, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and update TikTok from the official app store.
Ask a friend whether TikTok works for them, or look at a public outage tracker. Treat a tracker as a hint, not proof.
If views dropped, open TikTok analytics and look for any notice about For You feed eligibility.
If the problem stays and there is no restriction, report it as a technical problem in the app.
#Reporting a Technical Problem or Filing an Appeal
For a fault with no restriction, TikTok's Report a technical problem page is the official route for reporting a fault to TikTok Support. Make sure you are logged in to the right account, then use the report a problem option in the app's help settings. Menu names can vary by app version and region. Keep screenshots of the error ready in case they help.
For a restriction, the Enforcement page says that if your account was banned, or your content was removed or restricted, and you believe this was an error, you may appeal, and you can follow the appeal's status in the in-app Safety Centre. If the message says your account is under review, our guide to a TikTok account under review explains that screen. If views fell with no notice at all, see our guide to TikTok zero views and shadowban worries.

#What a Restriction Can Look Like Under TikTok's Rules
The Accounts and Features guidelines say that when someone breaks the Community Guidelines, action can mean a warning, a temporary feature or account restriction, or a full account ban, depending on what happened. They add that in some cases users may be given the chance to complete optional policy training to restore full access. So a restriction is not the same as a ban, and a single feature can be limited while the rest of the account works.
The same guidelines say TikTok may ban an account for repeated rule violations, a single severe violation, or trying to avoid enforcement. That last point matters during an outage. Opening a second account because the first seems broken can look like dodging enforcement if the first was in fact restricted. Wait until you know which it is.
#Malaysian Creators: Do Not Pay for an Unban During an Outage
When TikTok has a wobble, Malaysian creator groups fill with posts saying accounts were banned, and with offers to fix them. During a real outage your account check will look clean, and no helper can make TikTok's servers work faster. Anyone selling an unban while the app is down is selling nothing. If you are asked for your password, a login code or a payment to restore access, treat it as a scam.
Some creators work this out alone, and the official checks stay first. The risks are real. Logging out to fix a glitch can strand you if your login details are out of date. Appealing a restriction with the wrong reason wastes the chance to explain the right one. And a stranger who offers to help may ask for exactly the details that let them take the account. If the account carries your income or a brand, or the Account check shows a restriction you do not understand, having an experienced team handle it is the safer choice. AwareXone does this work. See our TikTok account recovery page.
A case review helps when Account check shows a restriction and you cannot tell why, when you are locked out with no message, or when LIVE or messaging has stopped and an appeal went nowhere. We are a Malaysia-based team, independent of TikTok, and we use the official routes only. We never ask for your password or codes, and we cannot promise a result. Read how we work on our trust page.
How do I check if my TikTok account is restricted?
Use Account check. TikTok's support pages describe an Account check in the app that shows whether features are restricted. Menu names can vary by app version and region.
Was TikTok down on 28 October 2026?
GV Wire reported that TikTok was down for thousands of users that day, based on Downdetector reports. TikTok's own pages we checked do not confirm outages.
Does Account check show LIVE restrictions?
It may not. LIVE rules sit in the Community Guidelines, which say a LIVE that breaks the rules may be stopped and the creator may face temporary restrictions from going LIVE.
My views dropped but Account check is clear. Am I banned?
Not from the check alone. The Enforcement page says For You feed ineligibility appears in TikTok analytics, so look there.
Can AwareXone tell me if TikTok is down?
We cannot see TikTok's servers. We help when the problem is your account, using the official appeal and support routes.
