TikTok 0 Views or Shadowban? What Is Really Happening
Every TikTok video stuck at 0 views in Malaysia? How to tell the shadowban myth from TikTok's real Ineligible for recommendation notice, and how to appeal.
Not necessarily. TikTok does not use the word shadowban, but it can make a video or whole account ineligible for the For You feed. First check your account and posts are not set to private, then run Account check and look for an Ineligible for recommendation notice. If TikTok got it wrong, appeal once from that notice.
Summary- TikTok does not use the word shadowban, but it can make one video or a whole account ineligible for the For You feed and harder to find in search.
- Check the basics first: whether the account or the video is set to private, and whether TikTok has sent anything to your Inbox or profile.
- Run Account check in TikTok Studio or the Safety Center, and turn on analytics so TikTok can show you which posts were flagged and why.
- If your profile shows an Ineligible for recommendation notice and you think TikTok got it wrong, appeal once from that notice or the Inbox message.
- Do not buy views, join engagement groups, post the same clips from a second account or pay anyone who promises to lift a shadowban.
- TikTok decides every appeal and may restore an account on its own over time, but nobody outside TikTok can force your videos back into the feed.

Your last five TikTok videos all show 0 views, or a number so low it might as well be zero. A week ago the same kind of video reached hundreds of people. Friends in your comments say you have been shadowbanned, and a stranger in your DMs is already offering to fix it.
TikTok does not use the word shadowban, but it does have real, visible states that cut your reach, and most come with a notice and an appeal button. Other causes of zero views are not penalties at all. The first job is to find out which one you have.
This guide shows how to check your account in the app, what each state means, how to appeal the account-wide notice, and the quick fixes that make things worse. It is written for creators and small sellers in Malaysia, including anyone searching "kenapa video TikTok 0 views" or "TikTok 0播放 限流".

#Is Your TikTok Account Shadowbanned If Every Video Gets 0 Views?
Not necessarily. TikTok's For You feed eligibility standards say plainly that a video not getting many views does not necessarily mean it broke a rule. What TikTok does do is make individual posts ineligible for the For You feed, and, if you repeatedly post unsuitable content, make the whole account ineligible so your posts stop appearing in the feed and become harder to find in search. That account state shows up as an "Ineligible for recommendation" notice on your profile and in your Inbox, with an Appeal option. So check your privacy settings, run Account check and look for that notice before you assume anything. If there is no notice and no warning in Account check, a penalty is unlikely.
#What Can Cause Zero Views, and How Do You Tell Them Apart?
People use "shadowban" for at least six different situations. Each has its own fix, and only some are enforcement. The notice names below are the ones TikTok's help pages use at the time of writing; the exact wording on your screen can vary by app version and region.
| What you notice | What it usually means | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| Views only from people who already follow you, or none at all | The account is private, so only approved followers can watch, or the post's own audience setting limits who can watch it | Check Settings and privacy, then Privacy, and the audience setting on each post |
| An "Ineligible for recommendation" notice below your username | The whole account has been made ineligible for the For You feed and is harder to find in search | Open the notice, review the flagged videos, appeal if you believe TikTok is wrong |
| One post marked as ineligible in its analytics | That single post will not be shown in the For You feed; the rest of the account is fine | Read the reason in analytics and appeal that post if you disagree |
| A post "under review" that is not being shared or recommended | TikTok's Trust and Safety team is deciding whether to remove it or make it ineligible | Wait for the decision in your notifications; do not delete and repost it |
| A warning sign next to Posts or another feature in Account check | A restriction on that feature, usually after a Community Guidelines violation | Read the violation notice in Inbox and appeal it if you believe it is a mistake |
| Low views, no notice, no warning anywhere | Normal variation in what the recommendation system picks up | Compare several posts over a few weeks before changing anything |
If only one video is affected, our guide to a TikTok video under review or ineligible for the For You feed covers that case in detail. The rest of this article is about the account-wide pattern.
#Rule Out the Settings Before You Suspect TikTok
The simplest cause is also the easiest to fix. According to TikTok's help page on private and public accounts, a private account means you approve who can follow you and who can watch your videos. Strangers scrolling the For You feed are not on that list. The same page says you can also restrict each post individually through its video settings, and the post is then limited to the audience you picked.
- Account privacy: tap Profile, the Menu button, Settings and privacy, then Privacy, and check whether Private account is on.
- Post audience: open a recent video's settings and confirm who can watch it. A post saved for a small audience will never reach the For You feed.
- Age on the account: TikTok's youth safety rules say you need to be 16 or older for your videos to appear in the For You feed. If the birthday on the account says you are younger, that alone explains it.
- Who is posting: if videos appear that you did not upload, stop here and secure the account first (see the section on hacked accounts below).
#How to Check Whether TikTok Has Restricted Your Account
- Update the TikTok app so the latest notices load.
- Run Account check. TikTok's account status help page lists two routes: Profile, the Menu button, TikTok Studio, then Account check under More tools; or Profile, the Menu button, Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, then Account check.
- Read the result. The same page says you see a checkmark next to each feature or post if there is no issue, and a warning sign if there is. It covers logging in, posting, commenting, editing your profile and sending messages.
- Turn on analytics if you have not already. TikTok's page on content violations and bans says you need analytics switched on to see its decision on an ineligible post. The route is Profile, the Menu button, TikTok Studio, then Get started within Analytics and Turn on.
- Check violation notices in Inbox, then System notifications, then Account updates. You may need to scroll across to find it.
- Look below your username on your profile for an "Ineligible for recommendation" notice.
- Screenshot every notice and the Account check result, with the date visible. You will want these if you appeal or if the problem grows.
#What the Ineligible for Recommendation Notice Means
This is the closest thing TikTok has to what people call a shadowban, and TikTok explains it openly. Its help page Why is my account not being recommended? says that if you repeatedly post content that is unsuitable for the For You feed, your account and posts will not appear in the For You feed and will be harder to find in search. TikTok says it notifies you in your Inbox notifications and on your profile, so you can see which content was flagged and why.
The account does not have to break a rule to get here. TikTok's accounts and features rules say that accounts which do not break the rules but still post a lot of content that is ineligible for the feed may have the account and its content made ineligible and harder to find. Your existing followers can still reach your profile, and TikTok's feed standards note that people may still find a video through search or by going to your account.
There is also a way back without an appeal. TikTok's help page says it may automatically restore your account to good standing at any time, depending on how much content on your account is not suitable for the For You feed. So the balance of what you post matters: a steady run of original, clearly suitable videos is part of the fix.
#What Pushes a Whole Account Out of the Feed?
TikTok's guidelines spread the "FYF Ineligible" lists across several sections. For ordinary creators and Malaysian small businesses, these are the patterns most worth checking against your last few weeks of posts:
- Reposted or unoriginal clips: TikTok's integrity and authenticity rules say content is ineligible for the feed if it includes unoriginal or reused material without anything new. Accounts that reupload other people's videos, drama clips or stitched compilations with nothing added are the usual example.
- Engagement bait: the same rules say content that tries to manipulate people into giving gifts or inflating likes or follows is not eligible for the feed.
- Undisclosed paid promotion: the accounts and features rules say TikTok may remove commercial content from the feed if it was not disclosed with the content disclosure setting.
- Fake engagement: TikTok says it removes fake likes, followers and other inflated signals, and may restrict an account's ability to appear in top search results or the For You feed if it finds deceptive behaviour.
#How to Appeal an Account That Is Not Being Recommended
TikTok's help page describes two routes to the same appeal. Button names may differ slightly on your version of the app.
- From Inbox: tap Inbox, tap the notification that your account is ineligible for recommendation, tap View more, review the ineligible videos, then tap Appeal at the top.
- From your profile: tap Profile, tap the "Ineligible for recommendation" notice below your username, review the ineligible videos, then tap Appeal at the top.
Before you tap Appeal, look honestly at the flagged videos TikTok lists. If they clearly break a feed standard, an appeal is unlikely to change anything, and posting better content will do more. If they do not, appeal once and keep any written note short and factual. TikTok's enforcement guidelines say you can then follow the appeal's status in the in-app Safety Center.
If Account check shows an actual Community Guidelines violation rather than feed ineligibility, the rules are different. TikTok's content violations page says account status reflects your violation history over the last 90 days, that violations expire after 90 days, and that deleting violating content does not remove the violation. If a violation escalates to a ban, our guide to a banned TikTok account in Malaysia covers the next steps.
#Mistakes That Keep an Account Stuck at Zero
Most "unshadowban" advice online does the opposite of what TikTok's rules reward. Avoid these:
- Buying views, likes or followers. TikTok says it does not allow the trade of services that artificially boost engagement, removes inflated signals and may restrict or ban the account.
- Joining engagement pods or like-for-like groups on Telegram or WhatsApp. Coordinated fake engagement is the kind of behaviour TikTok describes as manipulating its platform.
- Posting the same videos from a second account. TikTok's rules say you may not create or use another account to get around a restriction, and its help centre lists spreading content violations across multiple accounts as grounds for restriction or a ban.
- Using automation tools or scripts to post, follow or comment. TikTok strictly prohibits tools designed to get around its systems.
- Deleting everything and reuploading it. The content has not changed.
- Sending many appeals for one decision, or writing things in an appeal that are not true.
#What If the Flagged Videos Were Not Yours?
Sometimes the flagged videos were posted by someone else, such as a scammer pushing links. TikTok judges what the account posted, so secure access before reach. Change the password, sign out unknown devices, confirm the email and phone number are still yours and turn on two-step verification. If the email or phone has already been changed, our guide to a hacked TikTok account with a changed email walks through the lockout routes.
Malaysian users can report a hacked account as a computer security incident to CyberSecurity Malaysia's Cyber999, the national point of contact for such reports. Once you are back in control, appeal the flagged content and say plainly that someone else posted it, and roughly when.
#When a Case Review Makes Sense
A zero-views problem with no notice rarely needs outside help, and an account-level notice can usually be handled with the steps above. A second opinion is worth it when the account carries your income, when the appeal has already been refused, or when a hack and a restriction are mixed together. SocialSafe by AwareXone, our recovery service, looks at the notices you have and what you have tried, and tells you honestly whether an official route is still open. We work only through TikTok's own appeal and support channels, and we never ask for your password or login codes. Our TikTok account recovery service explains how the review works, and the Trust Center sets out what we will and will not do.
