Meta Business Verification Rejected? How to Fix It

Meta rejected your business verification in Malaysia? Why it happens, how to match your details to official documents, fix your website and appeal.

11 min read
Short answer

A rejection means Meta could not confirm that your business portfolio belongs to a real, registered business you represent. Make the legal name, address, phone number and website match your official registration documents exactly, fix any broken or non-HTTPS website, then check Security Center for an appeal. Never buy a verified portfolio. Meta alone decides.

Summary
  • A rejected business verification means Meta could not confirm your business portfolio belongs to a real, registered business that you are allowed to represent.
  • Meta names four reasons: false or mismatched information, claiming a business you do not represent, trying to get around the review, or a broken or non-HTTPS website.
  • Before you try again, make the legal name, address, phone number and website match your official business registration documents exactly, then fix the website.
  • Check the status in Security Center, where Meta says you may be eligible to appeal, and remember that editing your details means verifying again.
  • Never buy a ready-verified portfolio or ready-made documents, and never give your password or login codes to anyone offering to get you verified.
  • Only Meta decides whether a business is verified, and some portfolios are simply ineligible for verification in Security Center.

You submitted your business for verification in Meta Business Suite, waited, and the result came back rejected. Now the higher spending limit, the WhatsApp Business Platform feature or the developer access you needed is still locked.

The short answer: a rejection almost always comes down to a detail that does not match. The legal name, address, phone number or website you typed has to agree with your official business registration documents and with each other. Fix the mismatch first, then resubmit or appeal. Retrying fast with the same details rarely changes anything.

This guide, for Malaysian business owners and their staff, covers Meta's stated reasons, a line-by-line match check, accepted documents and languages, the website test, appeals, and the scams aimed at businesses stuck here.

#Why Did Meta Reject My Business Verification?

Meta rejects a verification when it cannot confirm, from what you submitted, that the business is real and that you are authorised to represent it. Its help page on why a verification submission is rejected lists four reasons: false or misleading information, claiming a portfolio you do not own or represent, trying to get around the review, and a website that fails to load, is not HTTPS or links to an error page. Check all four, fix what does not match, then look in Security Center, where Meta says you may be eligible to appeal. Nobody outside Meta, including AwareXone, can approve a verification for you.

#Business Verification Is Not the Blue Badge

Business verification in Meta Business Suite confirms that your portfolio belongs to a legitimate, registered business. Meta Verified for businesses is a separate paid subscription that comes with the badge. Meta repeats on every verification page that verifying your business "won't give you a verified badge".

Meta's overview of business verification says it checks two things: that your business is a legal entity registered with local authorities, with an official phone number or mailing address, and that you are an authorised representative who can receive a code at the business phone or email, or verify the business domain. Verification can unlock things such as a faster increase to your daily spending limit, Advanced Access for developer permissions, and some WhatsApp Business Platform features.

People search for the result as "Business verification rejected" or "We couldn't verify your business". Meta's help pages do not publish the exact notice, and the wording varies by region and by where you started, so go by the status shown in your account.

#Meta's Four Reasons, Decoded

The table matches each reason Meta gives to what usually causes it for a small Malaysian business, and the fix. The reasons come from Meta's rejection page; the "usually looks like" column is practical guidance, not Meta's wording.

Meta's stated rejection reasons and the usual fix, based on Meta Business Help Centre pages read on 29 September 2026.
Meta's stated reasonWhat it usually looks likeWhat to fix
False or misleading information, or suspected of itA trading name typed where the legal name belongs, an old address, a personal mobile number, or a document that shows different details from the formCopy the legal name, address and phone exactly as they appear on your official business registration documents
Claiming a portfolio you do not own or are not authorised to representAn agency or freelancer verifying a client's business in the agency's own portfolio, or using its own email and phoneHave the business owner verify in the business's own portfolio, with a code sent to the business's own contact details
Trying to get around Meta's verification reviewEdited or borrowed documents, repeated submissions from new portfolios, or a bought "verified" portfolioStop. Use only genuine documents for this business, in one portfolio
Website fails to load, is not HTTPS or links to an errorAn expired domain, a site still on http://, a broken "Contact" link, or a link-in-bio page instead of a real siteRenew the domain, install a certificate, fix dead links, and show the business details on the site

#The Match Check: Line Up Every Detail Before You Resubmit

Meta's step-by-step verification guide tells you to check that the details you enter "exactly match the details of your legal business entity". In practice that means every field, character for character. Lay your official business registration documents next to the form and go through this list.

  • Legal name: the full registered name, including the suffix exactly as registered, such as "Sdn. Bhd." or "Enterprise". Not your shop name, Page name or brand.
  • Address: the address on your registration documents, in the same order and spelling. If you moved and the registration still shows the old address, update the registration first or use a document that shows the new address in the legal name.
  • Phone number: a number linked to the business and able to receive a code. It must match the number on your document if you use the document to prove the phone.
  • Website: the business's own domain, loading over https://, showing the same name and address somewhere visible, such as the footer or a contact page.
  • Email: if you choose to receive the code by email, Meta says it may also ask you to prove you own the website domain.
  • One document that shows the legal name together with the address or phone number, clear, uncropped and in date.
  • Personal data covered: Meta asks you to hide personal details it does not need, such as an identity card number, before you upload.

If Meta's form offers matching records and none is yours, Meta says you can choose "My business isn't listed" or "None of these match" and may then be asked to upload documents. Pick the honest option rather than a record that is almost right.

#Which Documents Does Meta Accept?

Meta's page on which official documents to upload says the documents must confirm the legal name of your business and its official postal address or phone number. It lists these primary types:

  • A certificate or articles of incorporation.
  • A business registration or licence document.
  • A government-issued business tax document, such as a tax certificate. Meta says self-filed tax documents are not accepted.
  • A business bank statement.
  • A utility bill, accepted only for the business address and phone number, and only if the legal business name is on it. Meta says a utility bill does not prove the legal name.

Documents must be in date and issued by the relevant authorities. For a Malaysian business, official business registration documents normally cover the legal name, and a business bank statement or utility bill in the business name can cover the address or phone.

#Is Your Website Failing the Check?

A website problem is the easiest reason to fix and the easiest to miss. Meta says the site must load, use HTTPS and contain no links that lead to an error. Test it on a phone using mobile data.

  1. Type your domain without https:// and confirm the browser lands on an https:// address with no security warning.
  2. Click every link in the menu and footer. Fix or remove anything that returns an error page.
  3. Make sure the legal name and the same address or phone number you entered appear on the site.
  4. If you plan to confirm the connection through your domain, add it under "Domains" in the "Brand safety" section of Meta Business Suite settings, following Meta's domain verification steps.

Meta accepts a meta tag on the home page, an HTML file in the root directory, or a DNS TXT record at your registrar. If a web designer holds the domain access, ask them to add the record rather than sending them your Meta login.

#How to Check the Status and Appeal

Meta's page on where to find your verification status says it sits in Security Center, under Settings in Meta Business Suite, and is visible to people with full control of the portfolio. If you started from another platform, such as Commerce Manager, the status may appear there instead. Meta says a decision can take up to 14 working days.

  1. Open Meta Business Suite in a desktop browser, go to Settings, then Security Center. If you cannot open it, you may not have full control of the portfolio.
  2. Read the status and any reason shown. Screenshot it with the date.
  3. Work through the match check and the website test above, and correct the details in your business information.
  4. If Security Center offers an appeal, use it. Meta's rejection page says you "may be eligible to appeal", so the option does not appear for everyone.
  5. If there is no appeal, start verification again only after the fix, with the corrected details and one clear document.

Know one trap before you edit. Meta says that if you edit your business details, you need to complete the verification process again. For an already verified business, Meta's page on editing verified business details says changing the legal name, country, phone number, website or tax ID triggers a fresh verification, though adding a missing phone or website does not.

#Mistakes That Get a Second Submission Rejected

  • Resubmitting the same details within minutes and hoping for a different reviewer.
  • Using your Facebook Page name or brand name instead of the registered legal name.
  • Uploading a utility bill as the only document, when Meta does not accept it for the legal name.
  • Sending a cropped or glare-covered photo, an expired licence, or a document with an old address.
  • Opening a new business portfolio to start again. Meta treats attempts to get around its review as a reason to reject, and says it may take further action on the account.

#Is That Verification Message Real?

Businesses waiting on verification are an easy target for fake Meta messages. Meta's page on keeping your profile secure says Meta will never ask for your password in an email, and warns that attackers have sent Business Manager partner requests containing phishing links from a genuine Meta domain, facebookmail.com. If you do not know the business in a partner request, do not click anything in it.

  • Check status only by typing business.facebook.com yourself and opening Security Center. A real problem shows there.
  • Ignore emails, WhatsApp messages or Messenger chats, in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese, that promise to "approve your verification today" for a payment.
  • Never share your password, a login code, a backup code or a Meta Business Suite session with anyone, however official they sound.

If you already entered your login on a fake page, secure the Facebook account first and check who has access to the portfolio. Our guide to a hacked Business Manager covers removing unknown admins, and our breakdown of the fake Meta support scam shows how these chats usually open.

If money left your account, the NSRC's FAQ on the NFCC website says to contact your bank's 24-hour hotline or the NSRC on 997 as soon as you notice, then make a police report at the nearest station within 24 hours. You can report the phishing page itself to CyberSecurity Malaysia's Cyber999 incident centre by online form, email, phone or its app.

#What If Meta Still Will Not Verify You?

Some businesses cannot be verified in Security Center at all. Meta says that if you see "Ineligible for verification", you do not need to verify there, although another product may still email or notify you to verify elsewhere. If you pay for ads by monthly invoicing through a credit line you own, Meta says you can submit the credit line details instead of documents.

If your portfolio is restricted from advertising rather than unverified, start with our guide to a restricted business portfolio instead. Meta alone decides who is verified, and even a clean, matching submission is sometimes not approved.

#When a Case Review Makes Sense

Most rejections can be fixed alone with the match check and the website test. A second pair of eyes helps when the portfolio was hacked around the time of verification or nobody left has full control. SocialSafe by AwareXone, our recovery service, looks at the case first and tells you honestly whether the official route is still open, and sometimes the answer is that you already have what you need. You can read how we approach Business Manager recovery, and our Trust Center explains what we never ask for, starting with your password and login codes.

#Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Meta business verification take?
Meta says a decision can take up to 14 working days, and you receive a notification when the review is complete. The status shows in Security Center, or on the platform where you started the process.
Can I use my SST or bank documents instead of my registration certificate?
Meta accepts a government-issued business tax document and a business bank statement, as long as they are in date and show the legal business name with the address or phone. Self-filed tax documents are not accepted.
Will business verification give my Page the blue tick?
No. Meta says verifying your business in Meta Business Suite is separate from Meta Verified for businesses and does not give a verified badge.
Can a sole proprietor or enterprise be verified, not only a Sdn. Bhd.?
Meta asks for a business registered with local authorities and a registration or licence document, not a particular company type. Use the name exactly as it appears on your official business registration documents.
Why can't I see Security Center or the Start verification button?
Meta says only people with full control of the business portfolio can start verification. Ask whoever has full control to raise your access, or to run the verification themselves.
