Xiaohongshu, Douyin & Facebook Impersonation in Malaysia

Save the fake profile URL, dated screenshots and proof of your original content, then report through Xiaohongshu's in-app rights path or Rights Protection Center, Douyin's infringement report flow, and Facebook's pretending-to-be-me tools. If money is involved in Malaysia, contact your bank or NSRC 997 and consider a police report. Platforms decide removals; Malaysian agencies do not remotely operate those apps.

#Someone is impersonating me on Xiaohongshu, Douyin or Facebook. What first?

Copy the profile link and username, screenshot the bio, posts and any messages sent to your friends or customers, and keep originals of the photos or videos they reused. Warn contacts on WhatsApp, phone or email not to send money. Then file each platform's impersonation or rights-infringement report. Do not pay a stranger who claims an internal delete.

#Build an evidence pack

Include full URLs, usernames, dated screenshots, links to your real profiles, original publish times, and scam chats. Upload government ID only inside official platform forms. See collect evidence before reporting.

#Xiaohongshu

For a single note, Xiaohongshu's intellectual property materials direct users to the in-app report path (note → report → rights infringement options). #Douyin

In the app: profile → ··· → Report → infringement / rights violation → choose type → submit identity and ownership materials. Douyin's infringement reporting guide describes in-app steps, identity proof for individuals, batch reporting on the website, and notes that evidence formed outside mainland China may require notarisation or authentication. Malaysia residents should plan for that paperwork delay. Douyin follows its own rules and applicable Chinese procedures; do not assume MCMC can order a Douyin removal.

#Facebook

#If the impersonator is scamming friends in Malaysia

Call the bank or NSRC 997 when money moved (MyGOV), file a police report when fraud or threats exist, and optionally use MCMC complaints without treating MCMC as a delete button for foreign platforms. Guide: NSRC 997.

#Is impersonation a crime in Malaysia?

Tighten evidence, ask targeted friends to report with their screenshots, search for copies on other apps, and refuse password or crypto-only "helpers". Platforms do not promise timelines.

Malaysian Chinese creators often maintain audiences on Xiaohongshu while selling through Facebook Pages or WhatsApp. An impersonator who copies your face on one app will frequently clone your product photos on another within days, so search your brand name and common misspellings across all three surfaces when you investigate.

Language on the forms may appear in Simplified Chinese even when you live in Malaysia. That is expected for Xiaohongshu and Douyin. Prepare screenshots with the UI language you actually see, and do not trust a third party who offers to 'translate and submit' if they also ask for your IC softcopy in a private chat.

Brand teams should align marketplace takedowns with social impersonation reports. A fake Xiaohongshu shop and a Shopee listing sometimes share the same stolen image set; keep one evidence folder so dates and URLs stay consistent for every portal.
