## Short answer

Check Account Health and My Penalty in Seller Centre first. A penalty-point freeze cannot be appealed and lifts when the period ends. For any other freeze or ban, appeal by chatting with Shopee in Seller Centre or the app, with your documents ready, within 30 days of the notice. Shopee alone decides, and some accounts stay banned.

## Summary

- A frozen Shopee seller account is either a penalty-point freeze that ends on its own, or a limitation for a Terms breach or suspected fraud.
- Check Account Health and My Penalty in Seller Centre first, because a freeze caused by penalty points cannot be appealed and lifts when the period ends.
- For any other freeze or ban, start an appeal by chatting with Shopee in Seller Centre or the Shopee app, with your ID, business documents, shipping proof and supplier invoices.
- Shopee says a limited account is permanently suspended if no appeal starts within 30 days of the notice, or if the appeal fails, so do not wait.
- Do not open a replacement shop, pay a so-called Shopee agent to unfreeze it, or share your password, login code or Seller Balance PIN with anyone.
- Shopee alone decides every appeal, and some accounts are reinstated, some stay limited and some are banned for good.

You open Seller Centre to ship today's orders and a pop-up says your account has been frozen, or you cannot log in at all. Orders have stopped, and you cannot withdraw your Seller Balance. You may have searched "akaun Shopee dibekukan" or "虾皮 卖家 账号 被冻结" before landing here.

The short answer: there are two kinds of frozen Shopee account. One comes from penalty points; it cannot be appealed and it ends when the penalty period ends. The other comes from a suspected Terms breach or fraud; you appeal it by chat, and Shopee gives you 30 days. Work out which one you have before you do anything else.

This guide covers how to tell them apart, how to appeal each one, the documents Shopee asks for, and the scams aimed at sellers who have just been frozen.

## What Should You Do If Your Shopee Seller Account Is Frozen?

Screenshot the notice and the date you first saw it. Then open Seller Centre, go to Account Health and check My Penalty. If you have 15 or more penalty points, the freeze is a penalty and Shopee says you cannot appeal it; it lifts when the period ends, though you may still appeal individual points within Shopee's time limit. If there is no penalty behind it, chat with Shopee in Seller Centre or the Shopee app to appeal, remove any listings that break the rules first, and have your documents ready. Start within 30 days. Nobody outside Shopee, including AwareXone, can unfreeze a shop.

## Penalty Freeze or Account Limitation: Which One Do You Have?

Shopee's Seller Education Hub article ["Why is my account frozen/banned?"](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/3553) calls both a frozen and a banned account an "account limitation", and says it may follow a breach of Shopee's Terms or suspected fraud. The same page adds that accounts may also be limited because of penalty points, and that in that case you cannot appeal. Sellers usually search for the notice as "Your account has been frozen". Shopee only says a pop-up appears at login, and the exact wording varies by app version and language, so match on the meaning.

*Shopee seller notices and the first step for each, based on Shopee Malaysia Seller Education Hub pages at the time of writing.*

| What you see | What it usually means | What to do now |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Account Health shows 15 or more penalty points and a punishment end date | A Tier 5 penalty: the account is frozen and listing creation and updates are suspended for 28 days | Wait for the end date; appeal individual points only if they were wrong and still within the time limit |
| Fewer points, with a daily order limit or no campaign access | A lower penalty tier, not a freeze | Fix the metric behind the points and check the end date in My Penalty |
| A pop-up at login saying the account is limited, frozen or banned, with no penalty behind it | A limitation for a suspected Terms breach or fraud | Appeal by chat within 30 days, with the documents listed below |
| Upload restrictions or a frozen Seller Balance after a verification request | Seller Verification or e-Invoicing information is incomplete | Complete Seller Verification; Shopee says the wallet is reinstated within 2 working days of approval |
| Orders, withdrawals or password changes you did not make | Possibly someone else is using your account | Secure the account and contact Shopee first; see the section on takeovers below |

## The Penalty-Point Freeze: Why You Cannot Appeal It

Shopee measures seller performance every week and updates penalty points on Mondays, according to its [seller penalty system overview](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/2082/calculate-seller-penalty-points-issued). Points come from things like late shipments, cancelled orders, prohibited or counterfeit listings, spam listings, false transactions and shipping fraud.

The tier table on Shopee's [penalties page](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/2086) shows what each total does. From 3 points you face a daily order limit. From 6 points you are also excluded from marketing campaigns. At 12 to 14 points, listing creation and updates are suspended for 28 days. At 15 points or more, Tier 5, the account itself is frozen for 28 days. You can check the punishment end date under Seller Centre, Account Health, My Penalty, Punishment.

Shopee says points reset to zero once a quarter so that sellers start again. Its own pages give the reset day differently (one says the first Monday of the quarter, another the last Monday of the one before), so trust the date shown in My Penalty. The same penalties page warns that repeat counterfeit or intellectual property violations within six months of your first penalty may get the account frozen.

## How to Appeal the Points Behind the Freeze

You cannot appeal the freeze itself, but you can appeal a point that was issued unfairly. If the appeal succeeds, Shopee removes the point and restores the privileges it cost you. Shopee's [penalty points appeal page](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/2091/seller-penalty-points-appeal) gives the route:

1. In Seller Centre, open Account Health, then My Penalty, and choose "More".
2. Click "View Violation" on the point you dispute.
3. Click "Appeal Here" and write a short, factual explanation.
4. Select the orders or items linked to the penalty and click "Confirm".

- Appeal fast. Shopee only accepts appeals for points issued within 14 days of the penalty issue date.
- Use the pre-appeal window. Shopee's [penalty period page](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/2087/how-long-seller-penalty-points-period) says that from 20 April 2026 you may appeal up to 7 days before a punishment period starts.
- Expect the points to stay while Shopee reviews. It says it notifies you by push notification if the appeal succeeds.
- Attach the right evidence. Shopee rejects appeals with wrong or irrelevant information or documents.
- If a Shopee-supported courier failed to pick up an order, or picked it up late, you can appeal the late shipment or non-fulfilment penalty.

## Frozen or Banned for a Terms Breach: How to Appeal

This is the serious case. Shopee's frozen/banned article says a limited account cannot sell, withdraw funds or post on Shopee Video. The graphic on that page lists the usual reasons: fake order creation, voucher abuse, subsidy and rebate abuse, scams, continuous upload of listings that break the rules, and copying other sellers' listings.

To appeal, Shopee says to chat with its Customer Service team through Seller Centre on the web or through the Shopee app. Its [Seller Assistant page](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/16117/contact-shopee-customer-service) explains the entry points: in Seller Centre, click "Contact Shopee" and type a message; in the Seller Centre app, go to Home and tap "Seller Assistant". If the assistant cannot resolve it, you are passed to a live agent. That page adds that email is no longer a Shopee contact channel.

1. Remove listings that break Shopee's product rules, or that are counterfeit or copied, before you contact Customer Service. Shopee asks for this when the limitation was for listing violations.
2. Open the chat and say you want to appeal an account limitation. Shopee's Philippines hub tells sellers to type ["Account Reactivation Request"](https://seller.shopee.ph/edu/article/8135); the Malaysian page only says to chat, so follow whatever form or options the chat offers.
3. Upload your documents and a plain description of how your business runs.
4. Watch your email. Shopee's [help centre article on limited accounts](https://help.shopee.com.my/portal/4/article/78627-) says results arrive by email within 3 to 5 business days.

> Warning: **The 30-day deadline.** Shopee says a limited account is permanently suspended 30 days after the first notification if no appeal was started in that time, or if the appeal fails. The help centre counts from when you first saw the pop-up. Count from the earliest date you saw it and start the appeal well before day 30.

The frozen/banned article shows three possible outcomes: the account is reinstated with full access, it stays temporarily limited, or the appeal fails and the account is banned permanently. If you cannot get into Seller Centre at all, start from the Shopee app and its help centre, which is where the Malaysian limited account article points for reinstatement.

## Appeal Evidence Checklist

Shopee lists five documents for a seller appeal. The last three items below are our additions; they are what makes the five easy for an agent to check.

- A valid photo ID, such as your MyKad, passport or a work ID. The name should match the shop's verified owner.
- Your business registration documents, if the shop is registered as a business.
- Proof of shipping or delivery: consignment notes and tracking records for the orders in question.
- Proof of product ownership: supplier invoices and receipts that match the products and quantities you sold.
- A full description of your business model: how you source and sell, whether you sell on other platforms, and how many people run the shop.
- A screenshot of the notice, with the date you first saw it.
- A list of the listings you removed and when.
- Packing videos for disputed orders, if you record them. Shopee already encourages these in its [dispute evidence guide](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/2240).

## Mistakes That End Shopee Appeals

- Waiting. After 30 days without an appeal, Shopee treats the account as permanently suspended.
- Appealing a Tier 5 penalty freeze. Shopee does not accept those appeals; appeal the individual points instead.
- Leaving violating listings live while you appeal.
- Sending edited, unreadable or unrelated invoices. Irrelevant documents get appeals rejected.
- Blaming Shopee instead of explaining your orders with evidence.
- Opening a new shop to keep selling. Shopee's [Seller Verification guidelines](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/20173) cap individual registrations at one seller account, and a new shop does nothing to stop the appeal clock on the old one.
- Paying anyone who says they can unfreeze the account from outside Shopee.

## Frozen After Someone Else Got Into Your Shop?

Sometimes the fake orders or voucher abuse behind a freeze were not yours. Shopee's [account safety FAQ](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/11061/account-safety-faqs) says that if you suspect your account was compromised, you should change your password and Seller Balance PIN straight away if you can still log in, contact Shopee Customer Service, and call your bank about any unauthorised transactions.

Tell the agent about the takeover in your appeal, with login alerts and the dates. If several people run the shop, the same FAQ recommends giving each person their own member account through the Sub-account Platform instead of sharing the main login. If the break-in started with a link you tapped, our guide to [what to do after clicking a phishing link](https://www.awarexone.com/research/clicked-phishing-link-what-to-do) covers securing your phone and email.

> Warning: **Fake Shopee agents and unfreeze offers.** Shopee's [scam advisory](https://help.shopee.com.my/portal/4/article/78762-) says it will never ask for your password, PIN or payment outside the Shopee platform. It contacts you only through the Shopee app, verified social media accounts and official email addresses ending in @shopee.com.my. Its [phishing guide for sellers](https://seller.shopee.com.my/edu/article/18172/phishing-scams) describes scammers posing as Shopee staff who sell fake ad credit packages with a short deadline. Strangers who message you in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese offering to unfreeze your shop cannot do anything the appeal chat cannot. Never share your OTP, password or Seller Balance PIN.

## If You Lost Money or Shared a Code in Malaysia

Deal with the money first. The NSRC's [FAQ on the NFCC website](https://nfcc.jpm.gov.my/index.php/en/about-nsrc) says to call your bank's 24-hour hotline or the NSRC on 997 as soon as you notice an unauthorised transaction, then make a police report at the nearest station. It also says NSRC, PDRM, MCMC, BNM and banks will never ask for your password, PIN, TAC or OTP. Shopee's scam advisory adds PDRM's SemakMule site for checking a suspicious phone number or bank account before you pay anyone.

A fake Shopee login page or phishing message can be reported to CyberSecurity Malaysia's [Cyber999 incident response centre](https://www.cybersecurity.my/portal-main/services/cyber999-overview) by online form, email, phone or its app. Report it to Shopee Customer Service as well.

## How Shopee Compares With Other Marketplaces

Each marketplace runs its own rules, so do not carry advice over blindly. TikTok Shop uses an Account Health Rating with its own appeal limits, covered in our guide to [a deactivated TikTok Shop in Malaysia](https://www.awarexone.com/research/tiktok-shop-account-deactivated-malaysia). Lazada uses non-compliance points, and our [Lazada seller suspension guide](https://www.awarexone.com/research/lazada-seller-account-suspended-malaysia) explains that route.

## When a Case Review Makes Sense

Most sellers can run a Shopee appeal alone with the steps above, and only Shopee can reverse a freeze. A second pair of eyes helps when a takeover and a freeze are tangled together, when the same person also lost the email or social accounts tied to the business, or when the documents are messy and the 30-day clock is running. SocialSafe by AwareXone, our recovery service, reviews the case first and tells you honestly whether the official route still has a chance; we cannot unfreeze a shop or speak to Shopee for you. You can read how our [business and creator recovery](https://www.awarexone.com/services/business-creator-recovery) works, and our [Trust Center](https://www.awarexone.com/trust) sets out what we never ask for, starting with passwords and codes.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How long does a Shopee account freeze last?

A freeze from 15 or more penalty points lasts 28 days, according to Shopee's penalty table. A limitation for a Terms breach lasts until Shopee decides your appeal, and becomes permanent if you do not appeal within 30 days.

### Can I withdraw my Seller Balance while my Shopee account is frozen?

Shopee says a limited account cannot sell or withdraw funds. Access returns only if the appeal succeeds or the penalty period ends.

### How long does Shopee take to answer an appeal?

Shopee's Malaysian help centre says appeal results arrive by email within 3 to 5 business days. Penalty point appeals are notified by push notification if they succeed.

### Why was my Shopee account frozen when I did nothing wrong?

Shopee's systems flag patterns like fake orders, voucher abuse or copied listings, and a takeover can create those patterns without you. Explain what happened in the appeal and attach evidence such as login alerts and supplier invoices.

### Can I open a new Shopee shop while the old one is banned?

Shopee limits individual registrations to one seller account, and a new shop does not pause the 30-day appeal clock on the old one. Appeal the original account instead.
