## Short answer

If Instagram won't boost a post or rejects an ad, check four things before appealing: your payment method works, your account and ad account have no restrictions, the post follows Meta's Advertising Standards, and any required verification is done. Fix what you find, then request review only if you're sure the ad follows the rules.

## Summary

- Payment failures stop boosts.
- Account restrictions can block ads.
- Ads follow stricter rules than posts.
- Some countries need advertiser verification.
- Appeal only after checking.

Here's the pre-appeal checklist.

## What should I check?

| Check | Where |
| --- | --- |
| Payment | Ads Manager, Billing |
| Account restrictions | Account Status, Account Quality |
| Ad policy | Meta Advertising Standards |
| Verification | Ads Manager prompts |
| Music or text | Remove licensed music |

> Warning: **One wrong step can cost you the account.** One wrong step can cost you the account, so know what you are doing before you start. If you are not sure, do not submit an appeal yet. Ask AwareXone for a free expert review first, then act.

Work through the checks in order, because the first one that fails usually explains the rest. A boost needs a working payment method, an account and ad account without restrictions, content that meets Meta's Advertising Standards and, in some countries and categories, completed verification. If any of these fails, the Boost button may be greyed out, the boost may stay in review, or the ad may be rejected.

## How do I check each one?

- Payment: open Meta Ads Manager or the Boost screen and check the card has not expired or been declined. Meta's About daily spending limits set by Meta page explains that new accounts can have a spending limit that grows over time.
- Restrictions: check Account Status in the Instagram app, and Account Quality if you use Meta Business Suite. Meta's About advertising restrictions page explains why advertising can be limited.
- Policy: compare the post with Meta's Introduction to the Advertising Standards. Before-and-after photos, health claims, financial promises and personal attributes are common reasons for rejection.
- Verification: some ads need advertiser verification. Meta's About advertiser verification for ads transparency page explains when.
- Music and content: posts using licensed music from the Instagram library often cannot be boosted. Replace the audio or boost a different post.

## When should I appeal?

Only when the ad clearly follows the rules. Repeated rejected ads can restrict your ad account.

Meta's About ads in review page explains that ads are reviewed before they run, and some reviews take longer than others. If the rejection notice names a policy and you can see why, it is usually better to edit the ad or boost a different post than to appeal. Request a review when you are sure the ad follows the rules and the rejection looks like a mistake, for example when a product is misread as something restricted.

When you request a review, do not change the ad during the review. If the review is denied, read the reason again before trying anything else. Several rejected ads in a row can lead to restrictions on the whole ad account.

## What common mistakes should I avoid?

- Appealing without checking.
- Boosting posts with licensed music.
- Creating new ad accounts.
- Ignoring Account Quality.

Opening a new ad account to get around a restriction can make things worse. Meta treats that as an attempt to avoid enforcement, which can affect the business portfolio and the people who manage it. Fix the cause in the original account first.

Also avoid boosting from a newly linked Facebook Page or ad account straight after a login from a new device or country. Sudden changes to who manages an account, or where it is used from, can trigger extra checks. If you recently added a new admin or changed the payment card, give it time and check Account Quality before trying again.

## How do I keep the account safe while I sort this out?

- Never share a login code, password or backup code with anyone, including people who say they work for Meta, the police or a recovery service.
- Make sure the email address and phone number on the account are ones you still control, and remove any you do not recognise.
- Turn on two-factor authentication where the platform offers it, ideally with an authenticator app, and keep your backup codes somewhere offline.
- Log in only from the official app or by typing the address yourself, not from links in messages, comments or ads.
- Keep screenshots of every notice, email and step you take, with dates, in case you need them for a review or a report.
- Make one careful attempt at each official step rather than many rushed ones, because repeated failed attempts can trigger extra checks.

## When It Is Safer to Get Expert Help

Ask for help before you appeal if the account matters to your income, your business or your memories, if you have already had one appeal rejected, or if you cannot tell whether the problem is a bug, a restriction or a hack. That is where most avoidable losses happen.

- Your ad account or business portfolio is restricted, not just one ad.
- Ads keep getting rejected for a policy you do not understand.
- Verification failed and you are not sure which documents Meta needs.
- The account was recently hacked and ads appeared that you did not create.

### Why is the Boost button greyed out?

Often because of a restriction, a payment issue, or a post that is not eligible, such as one with licensed music. Check Account Status and your payment method first.

### Can music stop a boost?

Yes. Posts using licensed music from Instagram's library often cannot be boosted. Use original audio or royalty-free sound, or boost a different post.

### How long is ad review?

Meta reviews ads before they run, and some reviews take longer than others. Avoid editing the ad while it is in review, as that can restart it.

### Can you help?

Yes. AwareXone offers a free case review. Send the rejection notice and a screenshot of Account Quality, and we will tell you whether to fix, appeal or wait.

### Can AwareXone check my case before I appeal?

Yes. AwareXone offers a free case review. Send us what you see on screen and what you have already tried, and an expert will tell you whether to appeal, wait or take another route. We never ask for your password or codes.
