## Short answer

Instagram doesn't promise a fixed time. A removed post review can take hours to a few days, a disabled account appeal days to weeks, and a hacked account check depends on the route. Instagram's disabled-account page says you may be able to ask for a review by logging in and following the on-screen instructions; follow any deadline shown there. Don't submit duplicate appeals: they don't speed things up and can confuse the review.

## Summary

- Instagram has no promised appeal time.
- Follow the on-screen steps to appeal a disabled account.
- Duplicate appeals don't speed reviews.
- Some decisions are final.
- Check email and Account Status for updates.

Waiting is the hardest part. These ranges come from Instagram's help pages and what users commonly report; they're not promises.

## How long does each type take?

| Situation | Typical wait reported | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Removed post or story | Hours to a few days | Shown in Account Status |
| Feature limit | Ends on its own date | No appeal needed in many cases |
| Disabled account appeal | Days to several weeks | deadline shown on your notice |
| Hacked account route | Depends on the checks | Instagram emails you at the secure address you provided after you submit the video selfie. |

Instagram's About disabled Instagram accounts page explains that if your account is disabled you can ask for a review by logging in and following the on-screen instructions. It does not give a review time. Meta's Taking action and Restricting accounts pages explain that reviews may use technology, human reviewers or both, which is one reason some cases are fast and others take weeks. Anyone who quotes you an exact number of days for your case is guessing.

## What does each stage look like?

1. You submit the appeal or request review. Instagram usually shows a confirmation on screen or sends an email.
2. The case waits in a review queue. Nothing appears to change during this time.
3. A decision is made. You usually get an email or an in-app notice.
4. If the account is restored, you can log in again. If not, the notice may say the decision is final.

For hacked accounts, timing depends on the route. If Instagram asks for a video selfie, its page If you think your Instagram profile has been hacked explains that the video is checked to confirm you are a real person and the owner, and that it is deleted within 30 days. Results for these checks are usually sent by email.

## Why is my appeal taking so long?

- High review volumes.
- Your case needs a human reviewer.
- Missing or unclear information.
- You submitted several appeals.

Long waits are normal, especially for disabled accounts. Cases that need a human reviewer, a check against an ID, or a look at a business's documents take longer than automated checks. Waits also grow when many accounts are disabled at once, for example after a wave of automated enforcement. A long wait is not a sign that your appeal failed.

## What should I do while I wait?

1. Keep the appeal confirmation.
2. Check the email linked to the account.
3. Don't create a new account.
4. Download your data if you still can.

Check the email address on the account every day, including spam and promotions folders. Instagram's hacked account page says security emails come from security@mail.instagram.com, so be wary of look-alike addresses. If you can still log in, check Account Status, which Instagram's Check your Account Status on Instagram page explains, because it shows what is still being reviewed. If you can download your information, do it now, using the steps on Instagram's Review and export a copy of your Instagram information page.

## When should I follow up?

If you have heard nothing for a long time, check whether the app now shows a new option, such as a second review or an ID request. Do not send a fresh appeal from a new form just to restart the process. If you subscribe to Meta Verified, you can ask its support channel about the case, but support does not overrule the review.

## What common mistakes should I avoid?

- Submitting the same appeal many times.
- Creating a new account while waiting.
- Paying someone who says they can speed it up.
- Missing the deadline shown on your notice.

Ignore messages that say they can speed up your appeal for a fee, especially ones that claim to be from Meta staff or partners. Meta does not sell faster reviews outside its own subscriptions. Also watch the deadline shown on your notice. If you wait too long because you are hoping for an email, you may lose the chance to disagree.

## How do I keep the account safe while I sort this out?

- Never share a login code, password or backup code with anyone, including people who say they work for Meta, the police or a recovery service.
- Make sure the email address and phone number on the account are ones you still control, and remove any you do not recognise.
- Turn on two-factor authentication where the platform offers it, ideally with an authenticator app, and keep your backup codes somewhere offline.
- Log in only from the official app or by typing the address yourself, not from links in messages, comments or ads.
- Keep screenshots of every notice, email and step you take, with dates, in case you need them for a review or a report.
- Make one careful attempt at each official step rather than many rushed ones, because repeated failed attempts can trigger extra checks.

## When It Is Safer to Get Expert Help

Ask for help before you appeal if the account matters to your income, your business or your memories, if you have already had one appeal rejected, or if you cannot tell whether the problem is a bug, a restriction or a hack. That is where most avoidable losses happen.

- You are close to the end of the deadline shown on your notice and have no answer.
- The notice says the decision is final, but you believe it was a mistake.
- The account was disabled after a hack and you are not sure which route to follow.
- The account supports your business and every week offline is costing money.

### Is there a way to speed it up?

No official way. Sending more appeals does not help. Meta Verified or Meta One subscribers can contact support about some account issues, but that does not change the review decision.

### Can I appeal twice?

Some decisions allow a second review. Repeated submissions don't help.

### What if I hear nothing for a long time?

Check your email, spam folder and Account Status, then look for any new option in the app. Get advice before you submit anything else, so you do not create a duplicate.

### Does Instagram tell me the result?

Usually by email or in the app.

### Can AwareXone check my case before I appeal?

Yes. AwareXone offers a free case review. Send us what you see on screen and what you have already tried, and an expert will tell you whether to appeal, wait or take another route. We never ask for your password or codes.
